Changes in v2.0

The Biggest overhaul of PostSync ever! Version 2 is built for speed and flexibility. Most of its underlying code has been re-written from the ground up and the UI has been refreshed with a sleek design aimed at intuitive user interaction.

NEW:

  • The bulk of the previous code was built on AppleScript which worked fine, but was a bit cumbersome and slow. Now most of the code has been rewritten in native macOS Swift.
  • iCloud is now available as a Hub for your Sync and Backup File-Sets. PostSync fully tracks the progress of iCloud upload/download process so you know when it’s done.
  • Sync Locking does what it says: keeps the Sync Hub locked during processing to prevent conflicts with another workstation. It also works when using iCloud.
  • Saved Hubs lets you choose from a list of previously used Hubs. This gives you the ability to have separate Hubs for a variety of different uses including: by project, by client, by editor, etc. The list goes on.
  • Sync is faster, up to 2X compared to the previous version. It also no longer stops when a file cannot be copied or deleted. It now processes as much as possible and reports issues after it has completed.
  • New Custom Sync section allows you to sync any folder on your workstation to the Sync Hub, with intuitive controls that allow you to be selective which file are targeted and which are ignored.
  • Cleanup is blazing fast thanks to its rewritten code.
  • Both Sync and Cleanup feature an entirely new Evaluation viewer that previews your configuration so you can see what files/folders will be targeted for processing.
  • Connections have also been rewritten for speed and offers a wider range of supported connection protocols, including: SMB, AFP, FTP, NSF, and WebDAV. Adding a Connection is also now easier with a new Network Shared Folder pop-up.
  • The new Eject Connection action allows you to connect, sync and eject the Sync hub automatically.
  • Logic Pro and Adobe Audition are now fully supported, both for Sync and Preferences Backup.
  • Final Cut Pro’s Motion Templates have been divided into separate categories for Sync.
  • Font Sync no longer requires a special Legacy option thanks to the new Sync Engine.
  • The new File Transaction log shows you every file that was copied or removed during Sync and Cleanup.
  • The new Startup Scheduler allows you to automatically run PostSync on user login, or on a schedule. Can be configured by selected days, weekly or monthly at a set time.

IMPROVED:

  • Sync settings are now easier to enable or disable with a new pop-up. You can choose to enable/disable all or by the open tab, then enable only if application is installed.
  • Single Sync has a button to open the location of the source folder.

FIXED:

  • Sync now only tests for running apps for enabled sync actions.

IMPROVED:

  • When running Sync and/or Cleanup manually, PostSync will check it’s security access to folders prior to starting.

FIXED:

  • Sync: Cloud profiles are no longer being synced for Premiere Pro to prevent issues with Adobe Cloud. Fixed a rare issue which prevented some local profiles to sync correctly.
